Before their UEFA Europa League (UEL) Round of the 16, second leg against AS Roma at the Amex Stadium, the Brighton fans unfurled a hilarious banner about how Francesco Totti “loves pineapple on pizza”. It was in response to Roma ultras unveiling an X-rated banner about the late Queen Elizabeth II during the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico.
In a blatant disrespect, the X-rated banner from Roma ultras for the late Queen Elizabeth II spoke about how she gave “b*******”. During the first leg of the UEL round of 16 tie at the Stadio Olimpico, AS Roma did have the wood over Brighton, getting the better of them with a massive margin of 4-0 with Paulo Dybala, Romelu Lukaku, Gianluca Mancini, and Bryan Cristante putting their names on the scoresheet.
Just a week later, the Brighton fans, in their attempt to help the Seagulls complete an epic European comeback, unfurled a banner, which read, “Totti adora l'ananas sulla pizza (Francesco Totti loves pineapple on pizza)”. The banner referenced the staunch belief among Italians about how pineapple topping shouldn’t be used on pizza, one of their greatest exports to the world.
Roma beat Brighton 4-1 on aggregate to reach UEL QFs
Brighton won the second leg of their UEFA Europa League (UEL) round of 16 against AS Roma by 1-0 at the Amex Stadium, thanks to a Danny Welbeck stunner. But, since Brighton already lost the first leg 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, AS Roma managed to advance to the UEL quarter-finals stage with the 4-1 aggregate victory over the Seagulls.
Some of the other clubs to advance through to the quarter-finals of the UEL are AC Milan, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, Marseille, West Ham, and Liverpool.
