After star guard Kyrie Irving signed for Western Conference side Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, Brooklyn Nets have traded star forward Kevin Durant to Phoenix Suns for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four first round picks. During the summer last year, the 34-year-old Durant initially requested a trade from the Nets but no deal was reached, which led the two-time NBA Finals MVP to cancel his request in August.

Since January 8, Durant has been sidelined with a knee injury and is unlikely to feature in the NBA All-Star game. However, the Nets forward was having another incredible season, averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

After dealing all  their draft capital to the Houston Rockets in the trade to acquire James Harden in January 2021, the Nets try to regain some of their draft capital back. The Nets received Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and future picks in Kyrie Irving's trade to the Mavericks.

After spending much in 2021 to build a super team in the Eastern Conference with  Big 3 including Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden, the Nets failed to meet the expectations as they managed to win just one playoff series.
