SV Werder Bremen rewarded Borussia Dortmund an upsetting loss in the stoppage time after the home side maintained a one-goal lead as the game approached 90 minutes. Niklas Schmidt and Oliver Burke scored a goal each in the five minutes of additional time to beat BVB 2-3 in the Bundesliga fixture on Saturday.
Dortmund, who were only second behind leaders Bayern on goal difference, are now dropped to the seventh place in the Bundesliga points table after SVW handed them a frustrating defeat at the Signal Iduna Park. After beating Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg in their opening two Bundesliga 2022-23 fixtures, this is the first loss for Dortmund that too at home.
Dortmund were dominating the game till the 88th minute as Julian Brandt (45+2') and Raphael Guerreiro (77') scored goals on Marco Reus passes to maintain a 2-0 lead. However, the visiting side held their nerves and pulled off a sensational comeback as they scored three goals in a duration of seven minutes.

Dortmund will next face Hertha BSC at the Olympiastadion on August 27 while SV Werder Bremen is set to host the reigning Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt at the Weserstadion on August 28.
