The Call of Duty League has announced the schedule for the 2023 Modern Warfare 2 season on Tuesday. The league posted a three-minute video explaining the 2023 season’s schedule, which includes the dates and locations of the major events.

In 2023, there will be a return of five major events, which will be hosted across different venues. But the biggest aspect of this announcement has been starting date for the Modern Warfare 2 season. After countless requests from the community, the 2023 CDL season will kick off on 2 December 2022, just 35 days after MW2 launch.

All 12 CDL teams will take part in online qualifiers, which will have the same format as last season. Then, from 15-18 December, teams will fly out to Raleigh, North Carolina for Major I, which also be a Pro-Am event.

Hence, both professional and amateur teams will lock horns to become Major I champions. Amateur teams that failed to qualify for the Pro-Am will have a chance to compete in the Challengers Open, which takes place between 16-18 December at Major I.

This opening event also holds a total prize pool of $500,000 along with CDL Points for the competing teams. After Major 1 in Raleigh, the CDL will move across the USA for the remaining four major events. The hosts for those events are mentioned below. But the dates for these majors aren’t announced yet.

Major 2: Boston Breach

Major 3: OpTic Texas

Major 4: New York Subliners

Major 5: TBD

CDL Champs: TBD

Additional news surrounding the dates of majors and the locations of Major 5 and CDL Champs will come throughout the season. Talking about the 2022 season, OpTic Texas won the opening event as they defeated Atlanta FaZe in the final. Then in Stage 2, Los Angeles Guerrillas emerged victorious.

Seattle Surge defeated Atlanta Faze to win the Stage 3 event. Then Stage 4 was won by the Los Angeles Thieves, who then registered back-to-back titles as they also won the 2022 Call of Duty League Championship against Atlanta.
