On July 9, Sunday, the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit was won by the reigning F1 world champion Max Verstappen of the Red Bull, but all the headlines belonged to Cara Delevingne, an English actress and model. As a prominent celebrity, the 30-year-old was present on the grid before the race began, but when a media personnel Martin Brundle approached her for an interview, she shut him down.
In the viral clip, it can be seen that an F1 representative told Brundle that Delevingne doesn’t want to speak with him on live television.
“She doesn't want to talk? But everybody needs to talk on the grid. That’s the deal now, everybody talks on the grid,” quipped the F1 reporter before trying his luck to speak with her again. It led to the model categorically saying “no” to him, which made Brundle utter the words, “The deal is everybody has to speak on the grid.”
Delevingne responded back and said, “I can't hear anything, I’m so sorry,” to which he quipped again, “I’m sure it would have been extremely interesting,” while walking away from the scene.
Shortly afterward, the English actress and model faced backlash from many fans in F1, calling her rude for refusing to speak to the media. Cara Delevingne then took to Twitter to issue clarification while commenting on a post from a former Haas member. Her tweet read, “I was told to say no so I did. Thank you for seeing both sides xxx”.
She also took down one fan on the micro-blogging site, who presumed that her agent was involved in the mess at the Silverstone circuit, by tweeting, “It wasn’t an agent, it was an F1 representative”.
Cara Delevingne was happy to be involved at British F1 GP
After clarifying her position with respect to not giving an interview to Martin Brundle, Cara Delevingne went on to state that she enjoyed her time during British F1 GP at the Silverstone circuit.
“Anyway, I had so much fun today and was so happy to be there no matter what anyone else may think x”, tweeted the 30-year-old.
