Sri Lanka hold their nerves

It was not an easy win for the Lankans. Bangladesh made them sweat hard for every run. After posting a hefty 183/7 on the board, Bangladesh bowlers did everything at their disposal to make the chase a tough one for Sri Lanka. Ebadot Hossain drew the first blood as he got Pathum Nissanka. The right-arm quick got Charith Asalanka in the same over to hand a double blow. Hossain shortly got Danushka Gunathilaka.

Taskin Ahmed joined the party as he got rid of Bhanuka Rajapaksa. However, Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka held the fort for Sri Lanka and stitched a half-century partnership. Mendis also scored a half-century but fell prey to Mustafizur Rahman. Shanka, meanwhile, kept the hopes alive and got good support from Chamika Karunaratne.

But things took an interesting turn when Shanaka lost his wicket to Mahedi Hasan. Karunaratne also succumbed while sneaking in a tight single. It all came down to eight runs of the last over and it was on Asitha Fernando and Maheesh Theekshana. Fernando showed great maturity and temperament to score a much-needed boundary. The batter then hit one to long-on for two runs and scores were level. But as it turned out, it was a no-ball and hence Sri Lanka were declared the winners.
