The 31st season of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) will commence its group stage matches in the first week of September and conclude in the first week of November to make way for the most prestigious FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar scheduled to take place between November 20 and December 18, 2022.

Spanish giants Real Madrid won the record-extending 14th Champions League title in the last season as they defeated Liverpool in the final at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Among the top six European Leagues including Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Primeira Liga, the starting four leagues are entitled with the participation of their respective league's top four clubs from last season. While the top three clubs from the last season of the French League and the Portuguese League are authorized to participate in the most honourable club competition of Europe. 

This year, Champions League will feature five clubs from the German league as Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League last season, which rewarded them direct entry in the UCL 2022-23.

The UCL 2022-23 group stage draw will be announced on August 25 in Istanbul, Turkey starting at 9:30 pm IST.
