On Sunday, March 9, Rohit Sharma-led Team India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. After Rohit Sharma played a gritty knock of 76 runs off 83 deliveries, Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62) and KL Rahul’s unbeaten 34 helped India cross the finishing line with four wickets in hand and an over to spare.
For the unversed, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner won the toss and elected to bat in a scorching Dubai heat. The two Kiwi openers, Will Young and Rachin Ravindra gave a brisk start, Daryl Mitchell (63 off 101) and Michael Bracewell’s unbeaten 53 helped them post a competitive total of 251 runs at the loss of seven wickets.
For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav proved to be crucial in a spin dominating track as they picked two wickets each whereas Mohammed Shami and Ravinda Jadeja got a wicket each to their name.

During their run chase of 252, skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front, playing a knock of 76 runs with his innings being laced with seven fours and three maximums. Vice-vaptain Shubman Gill also played a fighting knock of 31 before his stay was cut short by Rachin Ravindra. However, Shreyas Iyer proved vital in this run-chase as he played a 62-ball 48 to help India etch history.
In the end, KL Rahul played an unbeaten 34-run knock along with Ravindra Jadeja, who put the final touches to guide India to third Champions Trophy title. For the Kiwis, Michael Bracewell and skipper Mitchell Santner proved crucial, picking two wickets each, whereas Kyle Jamiseon and Rachin Ravindra scalped one each.
