All the four semi-finalists of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 have now been confirmed after South Africa defeated England by 7 wickets in match number 11 of the tournament at National Bank Stadium in Karachi. With this win, the Proteas finished at the top of the points table in group B and become the fourth side to confirm their place in the knockout stage of the ongoing Champions Trophy after India, New Zealand and Australia. 

Batting first, England were bowled out for 179 runs in 38.2 overs with Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder taking three wickets each. In reply, Heinrich Klaasen and Rassie van der Dussen took charge with the bat as the Proteas chased the target in 29.1 overs. Coming to bat first after winning the toss, England had a poor start as they lost three wickets for just 37 runs in 6.4 overs. After that, Joe Root and Harry Brook added 62 runs for the fourth wicket. 

 

 

South Africa qualify for Champions Trophy semi-final

Joe Root top scored with 37 runs off 44 hitting four fours and a six. Apart from that, none of the other batters could stay at the crease for long as England were bowled out in the 39th over of the innings. For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen registered figures of 3/25 and 3/39 respectively, while Keshav Maharaj scalped two, and Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, South Africa lost two wickets for 47 runs in 8.2 overs. After that, Heinrich Klaasen and Rassie van der Dussen took charge of the innings as the duo put up a partnership of 127 runs for the fourth wicket. Klaasen got out after scoring 64(56) runs hitting 11 boundaries while  Dussen remained unbeaten on 72*(87) runs with six fours and three sixes as South Africa chased the target in 29.1 overs.
