Todd Boehly, who is the co-owner of the Premier League football club Chelsea, has acquired INR 420 Crore stake in The Hundred’s franchise Trent Rockets, after beating Shah Rukh Khan’s co-owned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Boehly has pulled off 49 per cent stake in the team, through his real-estate firm Cain International along with Chelsea Director Jonathan Goldstein. Both parties will make their deal transactional with a contract over an eight-week period which starts after the conclusion of The Hundred sale.
As per a CricBuzz report, the franchise’s valuation is 79 million pounds. The report also claimed Amit Jain, an Indian investor, was also in cahoots with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to acquire the franchise. Before winning the stake in the Rockets, Cain International were in the contest for the acquisition of London Spirit. However, the illustrious organisation pulled out of the deal which resulted in Silicon Valley consortium winning 295-million pounds in the valuation of the London-based side.
Rockets became the title-winning side in the men’s Hundred 2022, beating Manchester Originals in the final of the edition played at the iconic Lord’s. Before claiming their only title in 2022, they also finished as runners-up in 2021. Discussing Trent Rockets’ women side’s best, it came in 2022 as the team concluded their campaign in third place.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost to Boehly’s Cain International in the auction which contained the distinguished franchise from adding the English league's team to the likes of IPL’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Trinbago Knight Riders, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, and LA Knight Riders under the same ownership.
Recently, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sanjiv Goenka’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired stakes in The Hundred’s Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals respectively. According to reports, Delhi Capitals co-owners GMR Group are close to acquiring a stake in the Southern Brave.
