CM Punk opened the latest episode of WWE Raw at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, with his arm in a sling just two days after competing in a hellacious men’s Royal Rumble match. He revealed that he suffered a right triceps injury at the showpiece event, before remarking that WrestleMania 40 might not be in the cards for him.
In one of the most emotional promos in recent memory, CM Punk poured his heart out in front of the fans in attendance at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, and watching all over the world. To start off, the Voice of the Voiceless remarked that he was very close to winning the men’s Royal Rumble match, which would have shot him to the main event of WrestleMania for the first time in his illustrious career.

But despite losing out to Cody Rhodes, who won two straight men’s Royal Rumble matches, CM Punk congratulated him, and hoped for the American Nightmare to finish his story. He revealed to the fans about being “unlucky” in tearing his right triceps before telling them to not feel sorry for him.
The Second City Saviour admitted that maybe his childhood dream of main-eventing WrestleMania isn’t going to happen. Ultimately, CM Punk said, “WrestleMania 40, I guess it’s not in the cards ladies and gentlemen. But I am a Chicago Cubs fan, and this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last time I say this, there is always next year.”
Moments later, Drew McIntrye, who was the reason for CM Punk’s right triceps injury, walked into the Amalie Arena in Tampa, to rub it into his face. After these two bitter rivals had a back-and-forth on the mic, they were involved in a brawl, which saw McIntrye drop Punk with a headbutt before stomping on his injured arm.
It led to Sami Zayn saving CM Punk after sending Drew McIntyre out of the ring with windmill punches.
