Conor McGregor, 36, the Irish MMA fighter, has been sued in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman, accusing him of an alleged sexual assault during the NBA finals in 2023 between Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets. The incident reportedly happened at the Kaseya Center on June 9, 2023, which has led to the woman suing not only Conor McGregor, but also the Miami Heat and Basketball Properties LLC, as defendants in the case.
Notably, the woman has alleged in the civil lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, that she was assaulted by Conor McGregor in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center after the Game 4 of the NBA finals two summers ago after an associate had forced her to meet him. The plaintiff, who is a 49-year-old VP on Wall Street, has also made a startling claim that the Irish MMA fighter was served alcohol by arena staff in spite of his visible intoxication.
Woman has seeked compensatory damages in excess of $75,000 from Conor McGregor
In the civil lawsuit, Conor McGregor, the former UFC champion in multiple weight classes, has been accused of battery, while Kaseya Center has been accused of gross negligence due to their failure to provide a safe environment to a spectator. With the filing of the case, the woman has seeked compensatory damages in excess of $75,000 along with medical expenses, and other kinds of relief.
Moreover, the Miami police were initially made aware of the incident on June 11, 2023, but just a few months later, the attorney’s office of the Florida state declined to pursue criminal charges in the matter. The civil lawsuit also has mention of an earlier incident during the night wherein Conor McGregor had punched Burnie, the Miami Heat mascot, resulting in latter’s hospitalisation.
As far as the lawyer of Conor McGregor, named Barbara Llanes, this case is a “shakedown,” just like what her client had mentioned, while stating that, “Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”
