Preview:

Brazil will aim at keeping their perfect start to the tournament intact on Saturday when they go up against Peru in Rio de Janeiro in a replay of the 2019 final. Notably, the host nation had begun their title defence of the competition with a dominant 3-0 win over Venezuela. On the other hand, Peru haven’t yet played a game but will look to put on a good show with somewhat of a renewed sense of confidence, after they returned to winning ways last time out against Ecuador in the World Cup qualifying fixture.

Team News:

Brazil

Brazil have plenty of options at their disposal but after a splendid performance in their first game of the competition, they shouldn’t make much changes in their starting XI. Neymar will yet again be the key man and is expected to be joined by Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus, although Gabriel Barbosa scored off the bench in the last game.

Peru

As far as Peru are concerned, the team looks to be going through a period of transition. While Ricardo Gareca is looking beyond players like Raul Ruidiaz and Paolo Guerrero, he is backing the youngsters to do the job for the team. However, they might look to add the experience of Christian Cueva in the side along with Sergio Pena. No injury or availability concerns that should prevent them from fielding their best possible side.

Analysis:

Although Peru may come into this tournament feeling positive about themselves and their style of play, it would be quite a strenuous task for them to go past the challenge posed by the defending champions. Brazil start as one of the favourites to clinch the trophy yet again.

The way Brazil played in their opening fixture, they have done no damage to their favourites tag and should be able to secure the three points against Peru with ease. If Peru manage to win though, it would be one of the upsets of the tournament for sure. The best captain and vice-captain voices for this match will be Neymar, Jesus, Richarlison, Cueva, Marquinhos and Paqueta.
