Former India player Yograj Singh has shared his views regarding Shubman Gill’s appointment as Test skipper of the two-time World Test Championship (WTC) runners-up. Weeks ahead of India’s crucial five-match Test assignment in England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has trusted the 25-year-old for the captaincy mantle. Gill has become the 37th player to become the Test skipper of the side. Leading the pack, he will be expected to help Team India win a Test series on English soil after 18 years. His responsibility will be to bring the side together to extract the best in the upcoming series as India lost their last couple of Test series miserably.

Talking about Gill’s promotion in the Test team, Yograj said that the credit for Gill’s evolution should be given to the youngster’s father and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. “The credit for Shubman Gill's performance goes to his father and Yuvraj Singh. If Shubman Gill has become the captain today and will stay for a long time, Yuvraj Singh's guidance will play and has played an essential role in that," remarked Yograj to ANI. Gill’s development as cricketer happened under the training of his father and Yograj’s son Yuvraj.
