The cricketing fraternity is celebrating the auspicious festival of rakshabandhan. Former Team India player and World Cup 2011 champion Suresh Raina took to social media and posted pictures of him getting rakhi tied on his hand by his sister. Raina posted images with his sister on X. His post’s caption read, “#happyrakshabandhan.”
Star player Suryakumar Yadav also posted a few images through his Instagram handle in which he and his sister celebrate the festival of the brother-sister bond. He wrote, “The last picture sums up our relationship. Happy Rakshabandhan.” Shreyas Iyer also shared an image with his younger sister on Instagram and simply wrote, “Happy Rakshabandhan.” Left-handed batter Rinku Singh also dropped an image in which his sister can be seen tying a rakhi on his hand.
Team India eye record Asia Cup title; set to be played in UAE in September 2025
Team India’s next tournament is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where the Men in Blue will defend their Asia Cup 2025 title. On September 14, India will take on their arch-nemesis Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. Before the high-octane clash, the reigning champions will clash against UAE on September 10.
If Suryakumar Yadav gains complete fitness, he is highly likely to lead the side in the continental tournament. The 34-year-old played his last competitive game for Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in June 2025. Following IPL 2025, Suryakumar underwent hernia surgery in Germany. Recently, he was seen practicing in nets at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Eyes are set on selectors whether they pick Shreyas Iyer or not. The 30-year-old looked solid with his bat for Punjab in IPL 2025. Amassing 604 runs in 17 matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 175,07, he was the most successful batter for PBKS. \Shreyas played his last T20I game against Australia in December 2023.
