Manchester United is in turmoil as their season has been going downhill in 2022. The Red Devils have just managed to scrape out only one point in their previous three games against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. But in these dark times, striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been their only ray of hope.

The Portuguese superstar hasn’t had a homecoming he wanted but still has managed to score a ton of goals. In the 2021-22 season, CR7 has scored 17 goals in the Premier League and has often carried the team out of difficult situations. But Ronaldo has also been dealing with some grave off-field issues as he lost his newborn son a day before the Liverpool game.

The 37-year-old missed the game at Anfield but came back strong as he scored United’s only goal against Arsenal. Coincidently, the goal at the Emirates Stadium was also his 100th Premier League goal which he dedicated to his late son. However ahead of the game against Chelsea, Cristiano Ronaldo’s wife Georgina Rodríguez shared a picture of CR7’s celebration on her Instagram. The picture was captioned with just a heart emoji.

Consequently, Ronaldo added another goal to his tally as Manchester United drew against Chelsea 1-1 at the Old Trafford. “Not only the goal Cristiano scored but his whole performance, his attitude at the age of 37, this is not normal to do that,” said Man United interim manager Rangnick.

“If he plays like he did today he can still be a big help to this team. It was a good point for us. In the first half, Chelsea dominated the game. You can see that they have top players and are well organised, and it's not so easy to get hold of them.”

Ralf Rangnick then also praised the team for their fighting spirit after a disappointing first half. He said, “Of course, we were missing eight players in total, so we only had 13 players from the professional team available and bearing that in mind, I thought we showed a good attitude, at least in the second half.”

“We were also physically better and had more shape and more organisation to get more control. It was still far away from controlling and commanding the game, but against a top team like Chelsea, I still think in the second half, I was quite pleased with the performance.”
