Paris Saint Germain (PSG) suffered an incredibly tough loss against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the second leg of their round of 16 matchups. Striker Karim Benzema scored his first career hattrick for the Los Blancos to come back and beat the former French Champions 3-1. For the Les Parisiens, Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal at the 39-minute mark.

After their defeat, the rumour mill has once again started churning reports of the possibility of Portugal and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo joining PSG for the next season. The 37-year-old broke the internet when he moved from Italian club Juventus to Manchester United where he grew into one of the greatest players. These speculations also hold some meaning because CR7 isn’t getting the results that he wants at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Red Devils started the season as favorites to win their record 21st title, but soon these expectations went downhill leading to the termination of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Similarly, Ronaldo has also struggled in England as he has scored only 14 goals across all competition for Manchester United.

He also underwent the largest goalless streak in his career which lasted for 587 minutes (per ESPN's Stats & Information) in more than 11½ years. Consequently, CR7 hasn’t looked very comfortable with their interim manager Ralf Rangnick. Reports were floating before the Manchester Derby about how Ronaldo has made himself unavailable for the match.

Whereas in France, Kylian Mbappe is set to leave PSG and join Real Madrid the next season according to countless reports. The Spanish giants have been after the French superstar for the last two transfer windows and could possibly acquire him by the next season. So to fill this void, PSG could sign Cristiano Ronaldo next season forming one of the greatest forward three in footballing history.

If the Les Rouge-et-Bleu manages to pull off this transfer, they could start a lineup with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr which combined have scored 1741 goals with 12 total Ballon D’or awards. Financially as well, PSG is one of the only clubs that can take on the wages of Cristiano Ronaldo, making this transfer rumour a future possibility.
