Portuguese footballer and a globally renowned sportsperson Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract. According to this new contract that he signed with his current team Al-Nassr, he will stay with the Saudi Pro League club until beyond his 42nd birthday in the year 2027. His current Al-Nassr deal had been due to expire at the end of June.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ronaldo wrote. “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.” This announcement has put a full stop to all the speculations about the potential move away for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. The 40-year-old Portugal captain joined Al-Nassr club back in 2022 after he posted a cryptic message at the end of the 2024-25 season. “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” it read.

The renewal of his contract with Al-Nassr will be very fruitful for the club, as Ronaldo remains a central figure in Saudi Pro League Project and this deal will also increase the potential of Al-Nassr to shine themselves in the ecosystems of Asian football. Many reports also claim that and it has been widely reported that Ronaldo will also be offered a minority ownership in Al-Nassr to signify his importance to the project and the Real Madrid and Manchester United legend will also have input into which players they sign.

His new deal with Al-Nassr will also ensure that he remains the highest paid sportsperson in the world. According to the reports, the Saudi club confirmed Ronaldo has agreed terms on a two-year extension that will see him net around €185 million annually. According to a report in Marca earlier this year, Ronaldo’s deal will equate to €15 million per month, amd €3.8 million per week.

Ronaldo has recorded 93 goals and 19 assists in 105 appearances across all competitors for the Saudi club, but is yet to win a league title. In the recently concluded season, Al-Nassr finished third in the points table, missing out on a spot in the next year’s AFC Champions League Elite and instead will play in the AFC Champions League 2. Cristiano Ronaldo also confirmed earlier this month that he will not be part of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
