India lost to Bangladesh in the second ODI by 5 runs played on Wednesday (7 December) at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. Having lost the first ODI as well, it was a series defeat for India. The Men in Blue lost an ODI series to Bangladesh after seven long years. Also, having lost 0-1 to New Zealand before coming to Bangladesh, India lost a back-to-back ODI series after a long while.

Before the ODI series defeat to the Kiwis, India won the T20I series 1-0. But they had lost by ten wickets to England in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup. India were also knocked out of Asia Cup 2022 from the group stage itself. This series of defeats has not sat well with former India opener Virender Sehwag who has taken a cheeky dig at the Men in Blue.

Sehwag has compared India’s dipping performance to that of cryptocurrency and then asked the Men in Blue to wake up. “Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar. Need to shake up - wake up,” tweeted Sehwag after India’s defeat to Bangladesh.

Coming to the second ODI, India were very much in the game as they had reduced Bangladesh to 69/6. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz once again stood in their way as the Bangladesh all-rounder scored a century (100*) to propel his team to 271/7. Mahmudullah Riyadh also made a handy half-century (77) as he stitched a 148-run partnership with Miraz for the seventh wicket.

In bowling, Ebadot Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan respectively to give the Tigers an upper hand. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan bagged a brace each while Ebadot scalped three wickets in total. India captain Rohit Sharma tried to pull it off for the Men in Blue but fell short by 5 runs.
