Former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves made his comeback on Instagram after more than a year of social media absence. Alves came out on bail after spending more than 14 months of a four-and-a-half-year sentence. The 40-year-old was accused of sexually abusing a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022. In March 2024, the former Barcelona star was given a provisional release after his appeal against his conviction was heard.

A few weeks after his bail, Alves reactivated his social media channels and posted an update on his Instagram. Alves posted a blurred image on his social media and said that he wouldn’t give interviews. The former footballer accompanied the blurred image with a caption, “It is not true that I have granted any interview to any media, nor am I going to grant one while the judicial process is not resolved.”

As per different sources, Alves’ statement came after several theories started to float recently. One of them was that the Brazilian magazine ‘Quem’ paid the bail of one million euros in exchange for an exclusive interview regarding this chapter of Alves’ life. In addition to this, a platform called ‘El Periodico’ published alleged statements of Alves. According to it, Alves told the editor of the media platform, “It’s what I have to do. Every Friday, go to court and that’s it. I don’t have much else to do either.”

Not only this, but several theories also mentioned that Alves said that he had no idea when his appeal would be heard. It might also take place until 2025 and hence, he could be out of prison for some time. Coming back to his bail, while the Brazilian is out on bail, he is still required to appear in court every Friday. Along with it, he also handed his Spanish and Brazilian passports so he couldn’t move out of the country.
