The relationship between IPL team SunRisers Hyderabad and David Warner is definitely not going great. While the Australian southpaw lost his captaincy mid-way during IPL 2021, his lack of form saw him missing many games in the second leg of the edition. To make the matter worse, Warner was not even kept as reserves in the team.

Though the player had already expressed his displeasure with the way SRH treated him, his recent statement to media must give the 2016 IPL champions a big blow. Warner has confirmed that he will go in to the IPL mega auction next year.

By the signs of the recent IPL, I won’t be retained by SRH: Warner

Confirming the update, Warner also stated that he believes he won't be retained by his franchise SunRisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL auction.

“I will put my name in the auction. By the signs of the recent IPL, I won’t be retained by the SunRisers, so I’m looking forward to a fresh start,” Warner told a morning show on Australian radio station SEN.

“I kind of laughed at the reasoning, that two guys were hitting the ball out of the middle a little bit better than I was,” he said, adding, “Given that when you’re playing the game you’re playing the scenario. Obviously there are a lot of moving parts around there. What you have to do as a professional athlete is take it on the chin and do everything you can for the team.

“Not being able to go there, run drinks and be around was when it sort of hit home that it could be personal, and I’m still yet to get those answers.”

David Warner is currently in UAE with the Australia national team for the ongoing T20 World Cup in the gulf country. His batting form has been a bit of concern as the Australian has managed just one fifty in his past 9 T20 matches. He scored only 153 runs overall in the games. However, he continues to open for Australia, and must be hoping to gain back his form in time.
