Indian batter KL Rahul had a good outing while playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. After leading Lucknow Super Giants from 2022 to 2024, Rahul was acquired by DC for INR 14 crore in the IPL 2025 Mega auction. He was leading run scorer for DC in the season amassing 539 runs from 13 matches at an average of 53.90 and a strike rate of 149.72 with one hundred and three fifties.
However, as several rumours are coming regarding trade and transfer of players ahead of IPL 2026 auction, there are also rumours coming that DC might also trade KL Rahul ahead of the next edition of the IPL. As reported by Times of India, three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have shown interest in acquiring Rahul for IPL 2026.
KKR to pay INR 25 crore to KL Rahul: Report
As per the reports, KKR are keen to get in their squad aheaKL Rahul d of the 19th edition of the IPL in 2026. The franchise is likely to give him INR 25 crore after acquiring him from DC. There are reports coming that KKR might give him the captaincy role for IPL 2026, which means they are also likely to remove Ajinkya Rahane who led the franchise last season.
KKR emerged as champions in IPL 2024 under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy winning their third title in the championship. However, coming as defending champions in IPL 2025, KKR couldn’t continue their previous year’s form and finished at eighth position in the points table. They released Shreyas Iyer ahead of the season who was replaced by Ajinkya Rahane as captain. Now, KKR will be hoping to get KL Rahul in their squad and get their glory days back under his captaincy in IPL 2026.
