Punjab Kings' seamer Arshdeep Singh stole the limelight and became a match-star by taking 3/19 against the Kolkata Knight Riders on the second day of IPL 2023. Meanwhile, Pakistan fans trolled Arshdeep for his Shaheen Afridi-like celebration after taking his third wicket.
PBKS kicked off their campaign at IPL 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders on the second day on a victorious note with a seven-run win. The all-round performance by the men-in-red led to their first triumph on their home ground after four long years.
Arshdeep Singh came out as the star of the night with his powerful performance as the pacer bagged three wickets. He took the first two wickets by dismissing Mandeep Singh and Anukul Roy, in the same over. Singh's third wicket came in the decisive moments of the match when Punjab needed one more wicket to get across their DLS score.
Singh dismissed Venkatesh Iyer and celebrated the wicket by taking his hands in the air. This celebration from Singh caused a war of words between Indian and Pakistani fans on Twitter. Pakistani fans were quick to find similarities between his celebrations and that of Shaheen Afridi and mocked the PBKS seamer for the same.
However, Indian fans did not hold themselves back and mocked Afridi for copying Zaheer Khan. While one came up with Afridi’s records against India and Punjab star against Pakistan, the other shared a video of former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan saying he was the original while Afridi is his first copy.
