The last time Napoli won the Scudetto was courtesy of the man himself in the 89/90 season when the Argentine led Napoli with 29 goal contributions in 28 games. Maradona led Napoli to two Serie A titles in 86/87 and 89/90. Since then, Napoli have won the Serie A title for the first time following their 1-1 draw against Udinese.

Napoli’s triumph sees Luciano Spalletti’s side become the first team outside of Juventus, Inter Milan, and AC Milan to win the Serie A title since Roma in 2001. Napoli has led the Italian league from the start, embarking on a 15-game unbeaten streak at the start of the campaign that saw them not lose a league match until January.

Victor Osihmen and Khvet Khvaratskhelia have been the key for the Luciano Spalletti-led side. The celebrations started after their match against Udinese as the supporters stormed the pitch and set off fireworks. There was also a big crowd of fans at a Maradona mural in the downtown Quartieri Spagnoli neighbourhood in Naples.
