Former Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik denied Karun Nair’s chances to get into the Indian squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy despite a memorable campaign in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Notably, Nair has shown tremendous form in the ongoing Indian domestic one–day tournament and led Vidarbha to the final for the first time. He is currently the highest run getter of the tournament with 752 runs in eight matches at an unreal average of 752.

Karun Nair has also scored five hundreds in the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy with four back-to-back tons and a 88 not out in the last five matches. Wish his great run in the ongoing tournament, many Indian fans want Karun to be a part of the Indian squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, Dinesh Karthik feels that there is no place for him in the squad as India already have a stable set up in the 50-over format.

I don’t think Karun Nair will make it to the Champions Trophy 2025 squad: Dinesh Karthik

When was asked about Karun Nair’s chances in the Indian squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Dinesh Karthik said that the 33-year-old doesn't fit in the setup currently. “Karun Nair, it’s been unreal to see the form that you’ve been in. Even Mayank Agarwal has been in some really good form. But the beauty is, it’s coming at a stage when the Indian ODI setup is almost ready to go. There can’t be too many changes" Karthik was quoted as saying by Crictracker.

“Yes, it’s very tempting to bring a Karun Nair into the setup, and I think he has earned the right to be part of the talks. But I don’t think he’ll make it to the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. But if he keeps going like this, why not? A form batter like that who plays fast and spin well, he’s a gun player, and I’m very happy for him," he further said.
