Team India has been in terrific form after they clinched the second ODI in Cuttack, beating England by four wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Furthermore, the form of a few players, which had been a concern seeing the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, has also been put to rest as skipper Rohit Sharma played a well-made century as well as all-round performance from veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

While Rohit Sharma played a match-winning innings of 119 off 90 deliveries in second ODI, Ravindra Jadeja has also finished the games with the bat and bowled decently, picking up six wickets in two ODIs so far. Speaking after the conclusion of the second ODI in Cuttack, Jadeja credited his return to domestic cricket tournaments for getting back to the rhythm.

Domestic game helped me a lot: Ravindra Jadeja

Speaking after the second ODI in Cuttack, Jadeja told the reporters that domestic cricket has helped him a lot. "I’m playing for the first time in almost two years (1.5 years) after the World Cup final. I have to get used to this format. I think the domestic game helped me a lot,” Jadeja said.

“I bowled in 30-odd overs in the Ranji trophy. That’s why the rhythm was consistent. Be it in the Test match or in the ODIs, I try and bowl the same line and length. There was a continuity in the rhythm because the break wasn’t that long. I think the domestic game helped me a lot,” he added. Notably, before joining the Indian side for the ODI series, Jadeja featured in two Ranji Trophy matches. In game against Delhi, the Indian all-rounder bowled 30 overs, picking a ten-wicket haul, whereas he didn’t bowl in match against Assam.

Moreover, his return to form is crucial with India traveling to Dubai to play the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, Jadeja is one of the five spinners India have picked in their 15-member squad for the marquee tournament. When being asked about the preparations for the 50-over ICC major, Jadeja added, “It’s a good thing it will be where we’re going to play. We’ll find out how the wicket will be once we will go there.”

“But if the spin department is doing well, I think it’s good for the team. In the middle overs with five fielders inside, if you are taking wickets, stopping the run flow and not giving easy boundaries, it’s good. I think it’s for the team if fast bowlers and spinners are bowling as a unit, it’s a good sign for the team. We’re doing well collectively in every game,” he further addressed.
