Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner Sai Kishore has shown faith in his teammate Rashid Khan, who has struggled to be among the wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Appearing in eight matches, Rashid has picked up only six wickets at an expensive economy of 9.26. Noting the Afghanistan spinner’s reputation, the figures don’t justify his exceptional bowling prowess. However, during Rashid’s difficult time, his teammate Sai defended him during the post-match conversation with England commentator Nick Knight. After GT’s convincing 39-run win against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, Sai and Knight held a chat in which the latter asked the former question related to the Afghan bowler’s form.
“What about Rashid Khan? Your spin twin. It hasn’t been the ideal tournament for him. But a couple of wickets (today) in crucial time, how’s it going for him?" queried former England player to GT spinner Kishore. Hitting back at Knight, Kishore responded “He’s one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. He’s getting his wicket-taking knack back. As a team, we don’t doubt his abilities, I don’t know what it’s like in the commentary box."
Rashid Khan displays courage with ball against KKR
Against KKR, Rashid looked in fine touch with the ball at Eden Gardens Defending 199 runs for his team, the leg-spinner racked up 2/25 figures in his four overs. In his spell, he picked up KKR’s Caribbean players Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. GT will expect the 26-year-old to spearhead their team’s spin-bowling unit confidently in the upcoming games.
GT are set to face Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming IPL 2025 match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28. They are currently placed at the top of the points table with six wins and two losses so far. Meanwhile, RR are at eighth spot with two wins and six losses.
