Indian star batter Virat Kohli was seen in his fiery form on the opening day of the fourth Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After the conclusion of the Gabba Test in a draw, both sides came against each other for the highly-anticipated clash, Boxing Day Test, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday, December 26. The game saw the Australians dominate the show with the bat, while Indian batting legend Virat Kohli’s fiery persona took the centre stage. Earlier, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss for the first time in the series and let his side put the score on the board first.
During the gameplay, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne were involved in a friendly banter. It was then Kohli came up with a fiery remark for his teammate Siraj. The Indian bowler exchanged a few friendly words with Labuschagne on the field, when Kohli was heard instructing Siraj to not talk to their rivals laughingly. Kohli was caught saying, “Has ke baat nahi karna inse” (Don’t talk to them laughingly)

Kohli’s aggressive approach wasn’t the only highlight of the day. Apart from him, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma provided strategic guidance to spinner Ravindra Jadeja. Sharma urged the bowler to capitalize on favourable pitch conditions. He was heard saying, "Jaddu, ball bounce bhi ho raha hai, turn bhi ho raha hai.” Earlier during the toss, Sharma said, “The series is 1-1, a lot to play for, it gives us a perfect opportunity to show what we are as a team. Whatever situation lies in front of you, you have to fight. It's a new day and we are looking forward to it.”
On the other hand, Cummins said, “It's been a great series so far. (On what it means to play on Boxing Day) As a child in Australia when you wake up, you have a good night's sleep after Christmas, and you look forward to the first ball.”
