Canadian pop star Drake placed a whopping USD 500K bet on UFC 293, backing Israel Adesanya. The hip-hop star has placed the bet for Adesanya to earn a knock-out victory over his rival Strickland. The bout is set to take place on September 10, Sunday. Drake is known for being a 'jinx' in the UFC community when it comes to placing bets.

Not only this, but the fans also refer to his bets as 'Drake Curse' as the pop star has lost significant amounts of money and has rarely got luck in his favour. Earlier, Drake placed a $275,000 bet at UFC 272, when he backed Jorge Masvidal to defeat Colby Covington. However, Masvidal lost the fight via a one-sided unanimous decision.

Not only this, but he also placed a  USD 250K bet on Nate Diaz to beat Jake Paul in their fight that took place in August 2023. However, Paul defeated the former UFC star, and the pop star faced a significant loss. Despite the losses, the singing sensation once again placed a USD 500K bet in support of the 34-year-old New Zealand MMA fighter.

While it might create some sort of pressure on fighters in general, it seems Adesanya is prepared for the bout. The Nigerian-New Zealand fighter, who is close friends with Drake replied to his post and wrote, "Dialed in!!"
