Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard gave his verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi debate while naming his GOAT. Hazard snubbed the Argentine and Portuguese internationals to pick the greatest of all time. He was present in an interview with former Nigerian midfielder John Obi, where he was asked to pick the player he thinks is the greatest. While the long-standing debate has always revolved around Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Belgian ditched them to pick another name.

Hazard played against Messi and Ronaldo during his celebrated time in the sport, while making 352 appearances for Chelsea. During his stint with the Blues, he scored 110 goals before he moved to Real Madrid for $94 million, which ultimately ended in disaster. Hazard picked Lionel Messi between him and Ronaldo while heaping praise on the Al-Nassr captain. The former footballer, who called it quits in December said, “For me, Messi is the one.”

He went on to say, "Messi is the one if you talk about football. But then people have different opinions though. Ronaldo is the goat to score goals and bring trophies to the team. This guy is 39 and he will continue scoring till he is 50.” He added, “Me, my style of play is Messi.”

Eden Hazard ditches Ronaldo and Messi to pick Zinedine Zidane as GOAT

The 33-year-old named former French midfielder Zinedine Zidane as his pick for the GOAT debate. He commented, “For me, the greatest is Zidane.” After a successful career with different clubs including Real Madrid, Juventus as well as the France national team, Zidane drew curtains on his career in 2006. Following that, he went on to enjoy his tenure as Madrid manager.

Apart from this, Eden drew a comparison between Ronaldo and Messi. He said, “Cristiano Ronaldo’s mentality is goals. He doesn’t care about anything else, just goals. Messi, for example, wants to play more. Presumably, this is what Hazard is, he likes to play football like me.”
