The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) are yet to open their win account in the IPL 2024, as they have registered two losses on the trot. While the captaincy saga for the MI continues with their new skipper yet to get the first win of the season, rumours have come around stating that Rohit Sharma might take the helm back from him.

With the captaincy saga being the talk of the town off late, former India cricketer and politician, Navjot Sidhu, who marked his return to commentary during the ongoing IPL, shared his inputs while heaping praise of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

He claimed that MI is lucky to have a player like Rohit in their ranks, summing up Rohit’s class with a poetry. “Even if the elephant is covered in dust, it will be respected. Even tying the dog with a gold chain does not make one respectable,” Sidhu captioned a post on X.

The Team India skipper, who has been MI’s most successful captain having won five IPL titles so far, he has played 200 matches in the Blue and Gold, having scored more than 5000 runs at an average of 29.39 and a strike rate of 129.86. In the 2024 edition, Rohit has amassed 69 runs at an average of 34.50 and a strike rate of 168.29 from his two innings so far.

The Hardik Pandya-led MI will next take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 14 of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, April 1.
