The first day of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction saw some shocker with big names not getting a buyer. The most shocking was Suresh Raina aka Mr. IPL failing to get a bid, Raina had placed himself on the top shelf with a base price of 2 Crores, but franchises seemed hesitant about spending that much money on the southpaw. Raina's former IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also did not bid for his one of the best players which did not go well with Chinna Thala fans.

Many Raina fans seemed unhappy about CSK's way of treating their best player. Chennai is one of those franchises that is known for sticking to its players, be it selecting playing XI or bidding for them. A testimony for the same was CSK's Day 1 bidding at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The Chennai-based franchise went to all extents to bring back Deepak Chahar for 14 Crores. They also spent over 11 Crores to buy Dwayne Bravo and Ambati Rayudu back. But not going after Raina was something that surprised CSK fans.

The fans would have expected CSK to bring Raina back in the second round but to everyone's surprise, Mr IPL's name was not even included in the second acceleration list. Twitter users were quick to react to such a big moment as one of the most successful players of the Indian Premier League went unsold at the auction itself.

Raina has represented CSK for 12 seasons

Not buying Raina straightaway was a bit surprising for everyone as the batter has done everything in his capacity for CSK over 12 seasons. He has won them plenty of matches. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer has played 176 games for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and has amassed 4687 runs. He has also chipped in with a few overs and has claimed 25 wickets. But his 2021 stint with CSK did not go that well as Raina managed only 160 runs from 12 games.
