The highly-anticipated five-match Test series between India and England, is currently underway in England. However, the Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team went down by five wickets in the opening Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, they will eye to level it in the second Test, which commenced from Wednesday, July 2 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
While the England walked out with an unchanged XI for the second Test despite the availability of Jofra Archer in their ranks, the Men in Blue saw them make as many as three changes. While Akash Deep was named in place of Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy replaced Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar was named in place of Sai Sudharsan, who made his way out after a disappointing debut.
England and India players wear black armbands in memory of Wayne Larkins
As the two teams lineup prior to the start of the second Test in Birmingham, they were seen donning black armbands. The gesture came in the memory of former England batter Wayne Larkins, who passed away on May 28, aged 71. It is to be noted that Larkins played 13 Tests and 25 ODIs between 1979 and 1991.
In as many matches, he scored 498 Test runs and 591 runs in ODIs. The late cricketer starred during his County stsint with Northamptonshire, where he scored 271442 runs in 482 games.
