England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday, February 22 named their playing XI for the upcoming fourth Test against India, which is scheduled to be played from February 23 to 27 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. As excepted, the Ben Stokes-led side has called in for two changes to the previous XI.
While James Anderson continues to feature in the playing XI, Ollie Robinson replaces Mark Wood and Shoaib Bashir comes in place of Rehan Ahmed for the fourth Test. With Jack Leach ruled out of the series after sustaining a knee injury in the opening Test in the Hyderabad Test, England have recalled Shoaib Bashir into the side.
Moreover, Ollie Robinson, who was in line to make a comeback in the Test side after last playing against Australia in Headingley in July 2023, has been included in the side, replacing Mark Wood, who has just scalped four wickets in the two Tests he has played so far in the series. The team has also retained Jonny Bairstow, who has been below-par so far in this series.
England’s playing XI vs India:
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (C), Ben Foakes, Tom Hartley, Ollie Robinson, James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir.
