Notably, England prepared for the highly anticipated Test series against India with an extensive camp in Abu Dhabi, opting to not play a practice game in the South Asian country before the first Test was set to begin in Hyderabad. But, they managed to prove the critics wrong at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, getting the better of a very formidable Indian cricket team by 28 runs to start the series on a great note.
The break for the English players will begin in Abu Dhabi after the second Test, where they will meet up with their families. Following this, they will return to India to take part in the remaining three Tests, with the next one starting on February 15, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
Moreover, in the second Test at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, India are in a commanding position after two days of play, securing a first-innings lead of 143 before the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma got 28 runs on the board in their second innings. Earlier on Day 2, India had posted a reasonable first innings score of 396 on the board, thanks mainly to the first double hundred from Yashasvi Jaiswal in his Test career.
It led to the Indian bowlers putting on a quality bowling performance, bundling out England for just 253 runs in their first innings. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bunch, taking six wickets for just 45 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with three wickets on his return to the Indian Test lineup too.
Although India are currently bossing the second Test against England, they need to be vary of how the visitors made a great comeback in the first Test to steal the win from the jaws of defeat.
