England have defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets in 1st Test match at Lord's with the help of a terrific century from Joe Root and his good partnership with England skipper Ben Stokes. New Zealand had a great 195-run partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell in 3rd innings but unfortunately from 251/4, they collapsed to 285 runs itself. Stuart Broad and Matty Potts picked 3 wickets to their name respectively.

However, England had a poor start to their 4th innings, Joe Root's innings totally changed the game in favour of them despite Kyle Jamieson's four-wicket haul. Bowlers like Matty Potts, James Anderson and Stuart Broad also played a key role with Joe Root's century to win this game and it also remained to be only second win for England in WTC'21-23 cycle.
