Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, has become the fastest to 100 goal contributions, which includes goals scored and assists provided, in the Premier League history in just 94 matches, beating the previous record set by Alan Shearer in the 1990s. The 24-year-old achieved the milestone during a 2-2 draw against Brighton in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium after converting a penalty in the 11th minute of the contest.

After joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund for a £51.2 million contract in 2022, Erling Haaland has been a goal-scoring machine in the Premier League, winning the title twice in his first two seasons at the club. Following his 36 goals and eight assists in 35 matches in the 2022-23 season, the Norwegian followed it up with 27 goals and five assists in 31 matches in the 2023-24 season, and during the ongoing 2024-25 season, he has already scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 28 matches.

Erling Haaland is still in hunt to win Premier League Golden Boot for third straight season

It took Alan Shearer 100 matches to put together 100 goal contributions with Blackburn Rovers from 1992 to 1995, a record which is now eclipsed by Erling Haaland with six matches in hand. Some of the other prominent names to achieve this feat in the fewer number of matches in the Premier League include names like Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Mohamed Salah, and Sergio Aguero.

In his first two seasons at Manchester City, Erling Haaland won the Golden Boot in the Premier League for being the highest goal-scorer among all the players in the competition, but it might not be the case in the current season of the competition. He is currently trailing Mohamed Salah (27) by a big margin of six goals, which might be a bridge too far to overcome with just under 10 matches remaining in the ongoing Premier League season.

Moreover, with Manchester City already getting eliminated from the League Cup and the UEFA Champions League, their only realistic hope at winning a trophy this season is the FA Cup since they are 22 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League.
