Recently, there was a lot of buzz on social media after two of the former Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli reunited at the unveiling of a memorial of their childhood coach Ramakant Achrekar at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on December 3. A video went viral where Sachin went towards Kambli during the event as the two exchanged a few words for a few seconds before the latter was told to let him go. The video quickly grabbed the attention of the fans as they also speculated if there was a rift between the two former cricketers.
However, Vinod Kambli himself cleared that everything is fine between him and Sachin. “Yes, everything is fine between us and I'm happy with it. We hugged each other. We want to tell people that we're back. It was mutual, and I'm very glad about it,” Kambli was quoted as saying by CricTracker.
I was expecting my name to be part of his farewell speech: Vinod Kambli
During his interview, Vinod Kambi also revealed that he was unhappy when Sachin Tendulkar didn’t take his name during his farewell after retiring from all forms of international cricket in 2013. Back in 2009, Kambli also claimed that Sachin could have saved his career, which initiated a rift between the two. However, Kambli has now claimed that everything is fine between him and Sachin.
“I was expecting my name to be part of his farewell speech. If anything for our famous partnership. It's that world-record partnership that was the turning point of our careers. That's when everyone came to know who is Vinod and Sachin. I had a hand in that and our careers started from there. I thought he could have mentioned that part at least,” Vinod Kambli further added.
