India’s campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 has gathered huge momentum in Glasgow. After opening their account with a bronze on the second day, the contingent has now moved up to 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze medals (39 in total) and currently sits at fourth on the medal table.
The team’s best day so far came on Saturday, winning seven gold medals and most of those came in boxing. India also won a few medals in the triple jump event, long distance running and shot put with Sonam Rana clinching the gold. Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh clinched his second medal of CWG 2026 in the men's 5000m final, bagging bronze.
On the other hand, India produced a 1-2 finish in the men's F57 shot put event, with Soman Rana clinching gold and Shubham Juyal bagging silver. In the men's triple jump event, Praveen Chithravel won silver, while Selva Prabhu Thirumaran clinched bronze. Judoka Unnati Sharma also bagged a bronze medal
While the truncated format has limited India’s overall medal opportunities compared to previous editions, the focus remains on building further momentum in the final days. The Games are being contested against the backdrop of the approaching Asian Games 2026, adding extra significance to every performance in Glasgow.
India’s final tally is still not expected to match the 61 medals won at Birmingham 2022, largely because several medal-rich disciplines have been left out of this year’s programme. The country has also sent a smaller contingent of around 123 athletes across a reduced number of sports.
India's CWG 2026 Medal Tracker
India's medal tally has grown significantly following a memorable run at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Boxers Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, and Ankush Panghal bagged the gold medals, while Jadumani Singh, Lovlina Borgohain and Narender Berwal won silver medals in their respective weight categories.
With several medal events, including boxing, athletics, judo, para athletics and track cycling, still to come, India will be aiming to further strengthen its position on the Commonwealth Games medal table. Before the start of the Glasgow 2026 edition., India had amassed a total of 564 Commonwealth Games medals, comprising 203 gold, 190 silver, and 171 bronze, making it the fourth most successful country in the history of the Games.
The pinnacle of India's achievements came during the 2010 New Delhi edition, where the nation proudly collected 101 medals. With more events in athletics, weightlifting, boxing, and lawn bowls on the horizon, India is eager to climb higher on the Glasgow medal table in the coming days.
