In a shocking turn of events, a former international footballer has been arrested with a cocaine worth £4,000, after short run chase with Gardai in Dublin. According to reports, Anthony Stokes and his aide tried to run away by abandoning their car while Gardai followed the duo through Dublin’s southside.

Reportedly, Stokes was arrested following an intelligence-led operation. A Garda spokesperson told MailOnline that the footballer along with his aide was arrested after a brief run-chase, on Friday morning.
“A quantity of drugs was also recovered from the vehicle. Both men were detained in Crumlin Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and have been charged in relation to this. They have since been bailed and are due to appear before court at a later date,” said an Irish police spokesman.
Meanwhile, Stokes arrest came after he failed to show up in Hamilton Sheriff Court – despite being on bail in Scotland having been arrested and sent there from Northern Ireland earlier this year.
The former Celtic player was banned from contacting his ex-partner and her mother for four years in September 2019 and was handed four-year non-harassment orders after he admitted stalking. While the sentencing was deferred for Stokes to be of good behavior, Stokes later admitted breaching the non-harassment orders by repeatedly sending emails and texts to his former girlfriend and repeatedly calling her mother in November and December 2019.
