Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is known for his no-sugarcoating words. The Delhi cricketer has always been a big critic of Virat Kohli but on Sunday, the former Indian opener surprised netizens when he came out in support of Kohli.
Notably, Gambhir was speaking about Virat Kohli’s growing stature after the legendary batter scored 25,000 plus runs in i nternational cricket. Although Virat is struggling a bit to get runs under his belt in Test cricket, the 34-year-old looked calm and steady in the 2nd innings of the Delhi Test before he got stumped.

While Virat continues to make records with every run he scores, Gambhir opines that retired Indian cricketers need to acknowledge that part and stop pointing out flaws in Indian cricketers. “Virat Kohli has scored runs in every corner of the world. He has scored runs in Australia, and South Africa but often we talk about his performance in England. It's high time we need to understand that England is not the parameter to evaluate anyone’s credibility at the international stage,” Gambhir said.
Gambhir said that the Indian cricket fraternity must learn from the Australian cricket fraternity, who only appreciates their own players. “I feel we criticize our own players too much. Retired cricketers must start appreciating our own players and boost their confidence,” added Gambhir.
