53 Formula 1 wins, 57 pole positions, 122 career podiums, a career that lasted for a decade and a half and culminated in four Drivers' World Championships, Sebastian Vettel has been a giant of the sport and left like one two years ago. He drove memorable stints with not one but two iconic constructors, in the form of Red Bull Racing and later, Ferrari, a titan of the sport. But in end, however, not before driving for Aston Martin stable (the same team with which the legendary Fernando Alonso is currently driving), Vettel called time over his memorable career.
But what now? Apparently, news is that the famed German multiple world champion is likely to mark a return to the sport's top flight in what could be a reasonably affective and impactful return to the top straw of Grand Prix racing. However, as some rumour mills have it, Sebastian Vettel's return to the sport might not be as a driver seat-belted inside an F1 car. He could, if all goes well, sport his comeback in a different capacity, concerning an association with a Grand Prix racing team.
Sebastian Vettel admitted that his time as F1 driver is now over
That being said, what is the likely possibility of seeing the man return to the sport after winning four consecutive world titles? Sebastian Vettel, in a candid chat with ZDF Sportstudio, talked about how his time as a driver is over, but taking on another role somewhere in the sport is certainly something he could imagine.
That being said, life for the Heppenheim-born driver might see him on the F1 contingent albeit in a role with a team in some administrative or organisational-related structure, as far as the rumour mills support the narrative of the Vettel comeback. Known for his great communication skills and the ability to organise and shine through as a people's person, Sebastian Vettel could likely be in in the top echelons of a racing team, with the think-tank of an F1 side, even as his days a driver are well past him.
That being said, till the time any exact development hasn't been highlighted, much of what is being talked about with respect to Sebastian Vettel, is subject to paddock grapevine. Watch this space for more on the matter!
