Faf du Plessis has led Chennai Super Kings to many memorable wins over the years but the Chennai-based franchise was unable to retain the South African for the 2022 season and RCB latched on to bring him in as captain. Since then the Yellow Army certainly misses their star opener and he will lead the men in yellow in the Major League Cricket 2023, while playing for Texas Super Kings.

In a recent tweet from their official Twitter account, the Texas-based franchise announced that the RCB captain will lead the MLC side for the inaugural season. The franchise made a 30-second video with Faf du Plessis and announced him as the captain with the caption, “No c a ption needed! '' along with a yellow heart emoji.

MLC is the newest T20 league based in the USA with six teams out of which three are owned by team owners from the IPL. Faf du Plessis, Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Ambati Rayudu, and David Miller are among Texas Super Kings' signings for MLC 2023 with CSK coach Stephen Fleming as their coach.

The first season will feature Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, and Washington Freedom. A maximum of 19 players with nine foreign players will be part of each squad. The inaugural season is set to kickstart from July 14, with the final set to be played on July 31 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
