Neymar Jr made history in football on September 8, Friday, breaking the record of Pele to become the all-time leading men’s scorer for Brazil at the Estadio Olimpico do Para, Belem. While the 31-year-old scored two goals on the night to help his team attain an important 5-1 win against Bolivia in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match, he also happily posed for a selfie with his fan, who had invaded the pitch for the cherished moment.
The Sao Paulo-born footballer currently has 79 goals in 115 appearances for Brazil, leading the three-time FIFA World Cup winner, the late great Pele, who had scored 77 goals in 92 appearances for the country. Although Neymar Jr is scoring goals for fun as far as his international care er is concerned, his club career hasn’t seen such high standards in recent times, wherein he had to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Al-Hilal this summer.

ESPN FC took to their official Twitter account, to share the picture of the fan, who got a selfie from Neymar Jr, during Brazil vs Bolivia match at the Estadio Olimpico do Para, Belem. They captioned it, “This fan risked it all to take a selfie with Neymar on his record-breaking game”.

The governing body of football in Brazil, known as the Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF), had their President, named Ednaldo Rodrigues, present the commemorative shirt and plaque to Neymar Jr for surpassing Pele, to become the all-time leading men’s scorer in the country.
The plaque had the following words written on it, “To Neymar Jr., the all-time top goalscorer for the Selecao in matches against national teams.”
