Following a 27-run win over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru qualified through to the playoffs in one of the most remarkable turnarounds in the history of the tournament. When the match concluded, MS Dhoni lined up alongside his CSK teammates to shake hands with the RCB players at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, but he walked away after waiting for a few seconds, which led to the fans calling him out.
For the unversed, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a big total of 218/5 after being sent into bat first, with their captain Faf du Plessis scoring a fifty, while the rest of the batters contributed runs at a high tempo. Mitchell Santner and Maheesh Theekshana bowled impressive spells in the middle overs for Chennai Super Kings, but it wasn’t enough to stop the opposition batters from scoring quickly.
In the run chase, Chennai Super Kings got a couple of decent partnerships from the Rachin Ravindra-Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja-MS Dhoni pairings, but the wickets kept falling regularly either side of their impressive batting display. It led to Royal Challengers Bengaluru restricting them to 191/7 with Yash Dayal and Glenn Maxwell stepping-in, to help the team make the playoffs on the basis of a better NRR.
