Just hours ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) announced a major news with MS Dhoni stepping down as their skipper. The side unveiled Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Indian batter as the leader of the pack, who will take charge at the helm from the very first match, which will see CSK take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Chennai.

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) sharing the captains' image on social media, all ten franchises took to their respective handles to share the same. While Chennai-based franchise captioned it, “Forecast: Whistles! Here’s the game day look ahead!”, t he Shreyas Iyer-led side captioned the post, “We waited for days like these!”

While several franchises took to social media to pay tribute to the legacy of MS Dhoni as captain, helping them get five titles in their decorated cabinet, this post from KKR hogged the limelight as they took an indirect dig at former India and CSK skipper. Some users sarcastically pointed out that their admin could be former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

Some even slammed the franchise for such a gesture, while others took a dig at their IPL jersey. Check out the reactions here:

The Shreyas Iyer-led franchise will take on SunRisers Hyderabad in their tournament opener at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 23. They will next travel to Bengaluru to take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 29, followed by a game each against Delhi Capitals on April 3 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
