FC Barcelona have now already set their sights on the upcoming season, having finished an extremely successful one in recent days by securing the domestic treble under manager Hansi Flick. While Flick’s managerial contract also seems to be on the verge of renewal soon, Club President Joan Laporta has also issued some important updates about the contract renewals of some key players at Barcelona. First up is Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who was brought back from retirement to replace injured Marc Andre Ter Stegen on a short contract which is set to expire in June 2025.

Laporta has said that he really wants Szczesny to continue at the club for next season in order to boost the squad depth in the goalkeeping department alongside Ter Stegen and other La Masia keepers. Szczesny himself has been delighted to play at Barcelona during this campaign, however in a recent post-match press interaction, he did mention that he will talk to his family first about the prospect of renewing and staying at Barcelona for another season.

Another key player whose contract extension remains vital to Laporta is Brazilian winger Raphinha. His resurgence under Hansi Flick this season has been crucial for Barcelona’s success as the 28-year-old has delivered some match-winning performances this season, also donning the captain’s armband on couple of occasions.

We don’t want any player with 1 year left on contract: Laporta speaks about some key renewals for Barcelona

A much-underrated name which is not mentioned much in discussions pertaining to FC Barcelona this season has been Frenkie De Jong. The Dutchman has silently orchestrated the midfield for the Blaugrana, becoming a vital cog for Flick’s system alongside Pedri and Dani Olmo. His contract situation at Barcelona has been a little topsy-turvy, since there were rumours of a fallout between the player and club management. However, Laporta now seems to be confident that De Jong will soon renew his contract.

He said, “For sure he’s very excited to stay and we're absolutely determined to do whatever it takes to ensure he stays.” De Jong has only one more year remaining on his current deal and Barcelona will have to act fast if they wish to secure his services for a long-time. Last but certainly not the least, is Barca’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old has taken the footballing world by storm this season, outperforming everyone’s expectations of the young Spaniard. Laporta has reiterated that Yamal’s new contract is only a matter of time and all the other details have already been agreed upon.
