FC Barcelona suffer 2-3 defeat to Villareal in final home-game of 2025 season

FC Barcelona suffered a 2-3 defeat against Villareal on 18th May 2025, at the Montjuic Stadium in what was their last home game of the 2025 LaLiga campaign. After conceding an early goal from Ayoze Perez, Barca grew into the game and started to dominate the tempo. Lamine Yamal produced another moment of brilliance to score the equalizer with a sublime left-foot strike. Barca then went on to take the lead with a late first-half goal from Fermin Lopez.

But Villareal came back strong in the second half, capitalizing on defensive lapses from the Blaugrana and scoring two goals to finish the game 3-2. Although Barcelona created numerous chances in the second half as well, they were not clinical enough to beat the Villareal keeper. But the entire team and crowd seemed to be unfazed by the defeat as the stadium soon erupted into a mood of celebration as Barcelona celebrated their league title in front of the home crowd after being crowned champions previously.
