After a draw in the first game, India's R Praggnanda and Magnus Carlsen settled for another draw in game 2 of the final. Both players decided to shake hands after 30 intense moves leading to a rapid chess tie-breaker, scheduled for August 24.

In this anti-climatic decider, Carlsen was evidently opting for a draw as in the first 16 moves, and Carlsen was fixated on the scoresheet.  After both players traded queens, Carlsen and Pragg saw their rooks being slaughtered as they tried to go for herioc captures of the kings. Then just 30 moves both players shook hands and declared a draw. The tiebreakers will be as follows:

A two-game match in the 25+10 time control

A two-game match in the 10+10 time control

A two-game match in the 5+3 time control

One game in the 3+2 time control

Players alternate colors and keep playing 3+2 games until a decisive result determines the winner.
