FIFA World Cup 2022 had an extremely exciting quarter-final stage, where fans witnessed some incredible goals, nail-biting penalty shootouts and high-octane drama with some huge heart-breaks. Now moving towards the business end of the tournament,  FIFA has introduced a new match ball for the semi-finals and final.

German sports equipment manufacturer Adidas released a new ball which is called A l Hilm, which translates as “The Dream” in Arabic. This ball will replace the Official Match Ball of the group stages, Al Rihla, or “The Journey”.

Al Hilm will include all the technological advancements which were found in the previous ball like the ‘Connected Ball' technology, which has helped officials to make faster and more accurate decisions during this World Cup.  The ball produces data regarding the player's position which offers Video Match Officials instant data, to help optimize decision-making. This ball data is captured by IMU sensors within the ball which along with artificial intelligence, helps the semi-automated offside system as well.

The information regarding the new ball was released by Adidas on their Twitter account. The post said, “4 teams. united by a dream that will soon become reality. Introducing Al Hilm, the Official World Cup 2022 Match Ball for the Semi-Finals and Final. Available now through Adidas online and retail stores.”

" Millions will tune in from almost every country around the globe, united by their passion for the game. We wish all teams involved in the final stages of the tournament the best of luck as they compete on the largest stage that football has to offer.”
